Paul Signac was born on 11 November 1863 in Paris and died on 15 August 1935. He was a French landscape painter, close to the libertarian movement, who gave birth to pointillism, along with the painters Seurat and Henri-Edmond Cross. He developed the technique of divisionism.
This oil on canvas was painted in 1921 (dimensions 130.5 x 162 cm) and is now kept at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
